The Tiger Rally 2011
A Classic Drive in South East Asia
The Tiger Classic Car Rally is a unique and very special adventure through the most exotic lands of South East Asia. A tale of capitals, the Tiger Classic Car Rally will take you on a journey from the Thai capital of Bangkok to Hanoi via Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia and Vientianne, the capital of Laos.
Driving from Bangkok we visit the Tiger Temple in Kanchanaburi before heading north to Chiang Mai and exploring the less travelled routes of Thailand. From Khorat we head for Cambodia and the world heritage site of Angkor Watt at Siem Reap. From there we go to Phnom Phen before crossing into Vietnam and staying in Saigon - now known as Ho Chi Minh City.
From there the rally heads north to Da Lat, Tuy Hoi, Hue and Vinh before entering the little kingdom of Laos. Here the rally visits Vientiane, Luang Prabang and Phon Sa Van before once again slipping into Vietnam, stopping off at Thanh Hoa and Halong Bay before finishing in Hanoi.
Lands in this region have been fought over for thousands of years, with dynasties and civilisations waxing and waning at regular intervals. We visit many of the most famous places in the region, providing participants an insight into the lives of the various peoples. By taking your own car you connect with the locals in a way that normal tourism can never do. We sample some of the best hotels in the region while interacting with the peoples and their cultures in a unique way. We travel the lesser travelled routes as well as the popular roads, giving you a real flavour of the way people live in their fascinating region.
